Lei Zhu got his master degree of zoology in Xihua Normal University in Nanchong in the western of Sichuan Province in 2005. He took courses, which might be the best courses, of ornithology and mammalogy there. Since then, Zhu took part in many wildlife investigations in China, such as the survey of Tibetan antelope crossing the railway through wildlife corridors. Lei Zhu continued his research in Zoology Institution, Chinese Academy of Science. During this period, he had many chances to study in Sichuan, Gansu Province, Inner Mongolia and northeastern of China. When studying for his PhD degree, he researched on bird community at Wawu National Nature Reserve for three continued seasons. As we all know China currently has a population of about 1.4 billion and is the most populous country in the world. At the same time, for this populous country, the term “bird watching” is still a new concept. Like Zhu Lei’s Western counterparts, they have begun to understand our natural mothers through bird watching or other activities, and Zhu Lei has been fascinated by nature and wildlife in his childhood zoo. In 2005, Zhu Lei studied for a master's degree in zoology at Xihua Normal University in Nanchong, eastern Sichuan. There he was exposed to formal (and possibly the best in China) ornithology and mammalian courses. When he was in contact with bird watching, he got a mentor with rich bird experience and taught Yu Zhiwei's guidance. Since then, Zhu Lei has conducted a large number of investigations on Tibetan antelopes in China, such as the wildlife corridor through the Tibet Railway. After obtaining a master's degree, Zhu Lei continued to the Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to continue his research work. During this period, he got more opportunities to go to many places in Sichuan, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, and Northeast China. In the course of his Ph.D., he studied the bird community in his favorite and famous Wawushan National Nature Reserve in central Sichuan for three consecutive seasons. He also met with birdwatchers such as Paul Holt and James Eaton who are well-known in the Asian and international community. The stories and achievements of these people inspired Zhu Lei to start his career as a natural tourism guide. In this way, he can share China's wonderful natural landscape with people from China and the world, and convey his love for nature. So far, Zhu Lei has published about 18 articles related to birds and mammals in China, and has published articles on bird and bird protection in online media and magazines in China. |
